Vocabulary Unit 10
1.      Vogue – Long shirts have again come into vogue.
2.      Reiterate – I must reiterate that indiscipline will not be tolerated.
3.      Aviation – Aviation has shortened distances and thus brought the world closer.
4.      Proposition – The introduction of e-ticketing is a win win proposition for all the parties.
5.      Prospective – Her prospective husband is a very nice man.
6.      Account for – Online sales constitute nearly half the sales of our organisation.
7.      Hefty – On festive occasions, all the shops give hefty discounts.
8.      Catch up – I tried hard to catch up with him but he proved to be too fast for me.
9.      Operate – I do not know how to operate this machine.
10.  Affiliate – Our college is no longer affiliated to the PTU.
11.  Implementation – The implementation of the new rule will benefit the Indian team.
12.  Commendable – He gave a commendable performance although he did not win the prize.
13.  Mechanism – The mechanism of this machine is beyond my comprehension.
14.  Board - I am going to board the same train as you but at Ambala.
15.  Facilitate – The installation of the Wi-Fi will facilitate access to the Internet.
16.  Eliminate – Proper insulation of wires nearly eliminates the risk of electrocution.

29.  Survive – Man has survived so far not by virtue of his superior strength but by virtue of his superior intelligence.
30.  Mutually – Our cooperation will be mutually beneficial to both of us.
31.  Evolve – If we are to believe Darwin, man continue to evolve beyond his present stage.
32.  Gradually ­– We are gradually moving towards our goal and will soon achieve it.
33.  Script - We use the Roman script to write English.
34.  Replace – We are soon going to replace our old TV with a new one.
35.  Overtake – Never overtake a vehicle in front of you from the right.
36.  Extend - The Punjabis are known for extending hospitality even to strangers.

38.  Attachment – I did not succeed in downloading the attachment sent by you in the e-mail.
39.  Virus – The attack of a virus can destroy the data in a computer.
40.  Recipient – The recipients of the prizes will have to come personally to get them.
41.  Suspicious – Nobody likes this man due to his suspicious nature.
42.  Contaminate - Chemicals discharged by industries are contaminating the water of the rivers.
43.  Hazardous – The law does not allow the employment of children in hazardous industries.
44.  Consumption – Consumption of liquor is not allowed in our hostel.
45.  Phase out – The old metres are being phased out by the electricity board.
46.  Abdicate – The king has abdicated throne in favour of his son.
47.  Imperative – It is imperative for us to work hard if we want to achieve success.
48.  Environmental - Environmental pollution is very harmful for human health.
49.  Regulate – The government must do something to regulate the prices of essential goods.
50.  Evidence – Destroying the evidence of a crime is also a crime.
51.  Diverse – Canada is a land of diverse cultures as people from many countries have settled there.

52.  Persistent – My persistent efforts to achieve my goal will definitely bear fruit one day.
